F-104G "D-8297" 323 squadron RNLAF returning from a "Dart Tow" flight in February 1978 F-104G, construction number 683D-8297, model 683-10-19, built by FokkerFokker factory construction number 10747; D-8297 taken on charge October 28, 1964 by the 322 squadron at Leeuwarden; in February 1972 to 322/323 squadron pool in July 1976 squadron exchange took place between the Royal Air Force 29 Squadron, based at Coningsby, flying the Phantom FGR.2 and the Dutch Air Force 322 Squadron October 1977 squadron exchange took place between the Dutch Air Force 322 Squadron and the Royal Air Force 11 Squadron, based at Binbrook flying the Lightning crashed June 14, 1979 80 km north of Den Helder into the Waddenzee; during a 'clean' mission it struck sea at around 10.25 AM due to disorientation the pilot was found a few days later.
