F-104A "FG-761" 56-0761 modified with the proposed C version changes with the in flight refueling boom

F-104A, construction number 183-1049, model 183-93-02, US serial number 56-0761, built by Lockheed
delivered to the USAF on August 1, 1957; delivered to AFFTC on May 17, 1960 for refueling tests which started in November 1960 after works in McClellan
modified with proposed C version changes for testing. It had the in-flight refueling boom and pylons added.
It is most likely the only F-104A that ever had the AAR boom
withdrawn from use at Edwards AFB after a crash landing on Buckhorn Dry Lake on February 9, 1961 after a bearing failure due to a frozen bearing
pilot ejected safely, written off, lost engine power due to maintenance error.
